We are confronted daily with requests for large size parts, of which more than 80% are for Thermal Insulating Plates for hot moulds and presses.

Production of composite laminated plates by machining the semi-finished product is particularly challenging due to the stringent technical specifications (dimensional tolerance and surface finish) imposed by the type of performance that the plates will have to ensure during their operating lifetime.

Thanks to the long and careful testing of machining systems and methods and their standardisation in our production cycle, we are currently able to provide our customers with the following quality standards on the finished Plate:

Very narrow tolerances on thickness, parallelism and flatness, down to a minimum of 0.02 mm in total, measured in different parts of the finished plate (random sampling/statistical testing method).
By complying with these tolerances we avoid mechanical stress from asymmetric pressure and therefore relative anomalous wear and breakage, thereby also optimising the duration of the insulating plates.

Very accurate finishing of the surfaces, with fine grinding and subsequent polishing treatment, if required, necessary for obtaining a minimal residual final roughness (the final minimum roughness also depends on the nature of the laminate selected by the customer).

Chamfering and/or “radiusing” all edges of the plate. We take special care in this procedure to eliminate “sharp” edges, which are a frequent cause of problems in production unit logistics operations (especially manual handling), while also making it easier for our customer to cover the mould with the insulating coat.
